I.M.P.A.C.T. Club

I.M.P.A.C.T. (Inspiring Mentoring Parents and Caring Teachers) was founded in 2008-2009, by Sherri Anthony, Dean of Students at Landrum Middle School.  The vision for the team was to create a group to help those in need and that the school’s entire student body would feel as though they played an important role in the event.  Parent and community involvement, as well, is paramount in making this school goal a reality.  Therefore, the communication and teamwork approach from each group is most important in being successful.

The I.M.P.A.C.T.  Team’s mission statement reads as follows: To make others aware of the needs of our neighbors and to have a “servant’s mentality” in order to provide help physically through service projects and financially fundraisers.

Our team consists of students, teachers, PTO members, community members, administrators, and parents.

We have 35 student members, administrators, one sponsor, two teachers, and various parents that volunteer their time to make the program success.

Area businesses have also chosen to participate and support our events, as well as, local churches and organizations.

We have been privileged to have guest speakers share with our members and parents stories that would enrich our lives by explaining their various organizations, projects, and charities.  Each week they spoke at our student/parent meetings and provided a question/answer period at the end of each session.  In return, we tried to bless them with support and financial donations through our projects.

I.M.P.A.C.T. is unique in that the team strives to make their service projects all inclusive to the student body.  The team members and parents encourage all students on campus to be involved in helping with the projects by personally giving of their time and helping with the event or by donating financially to the fundraiser.

The team meets once a week to discuss the project for that quarter and the parents meet once a month.  Our parents are an integral part of the success of the team.  We depend on them for support, communication to the community, and ideas to promote a successful event.  The lifeline and heartbeat of the team is driven by the relationship between the students and the parents that believe in these projects.  The complimentary relationship will aid the team in completing the following projects:

September: Dance Sponsor & Food Drive for the St. Francis Homeless Shelter in St. Augustine

October:  “Pay it Forward” project

November: “The Cancer Walk” The entire community and student body will be invited. A day of Thanks and Remembrance
