The Sunshine State Young Reader’s Award Program is a statewide reading motivation program for students in grades 6-8. The purpose of the SSYRA Program is to encourage students to read independently for personal satisfaction, based on interest rather than reading level.
Students will earn prizes when they have read 2 (start collecting brag tags) 5 (gift bag) 8 (pizza party) 10 (Permanent Learning Commons Lunch Pass) and 15 (ice cream Sundae party) of this year’s titles. All students who enjoy reading are encouraged to join the SSYRA Book club where we will dive into these books and start to prepare for the Battle of the Books County Competition. Students should inform me when they have read 2 of this year’s Sunshine State books so that I can display their progress in the Learning Commons and start their rewards.
